Revenue of Nanjing's Software Industry Ranks No.3 in China

With powerful scientific and educational strengths, Nanjing has become an important renowned software city in China. According to the data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's software and IT service industry achieved revenue of RMB 1.5753 trillion in the software business from January 2017 to April 2017, with a year-on-year growth of 13.1%. The total software business revenue of 15 sub-provincial cities such as Shenzhen was RMB 880.78 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 13.4%, involving 17,593 enterprises. Of the cities, Nanjing's software revenue was RMB 107.33 billion, ranking No.3 in China and involving 1,550 enterprises. Moreover, eight enterprises of Nanjing were included in MIIT's list of 2016 (15th Session) China's Top 100 Enterprises in terms of software business revenue.

In the list of Key Software Enterprises under 2016-2017 Jiangsu Provincial Planning and Deployment Strategy released by the Economic and Information Technology Commission of Jiangsu Province, 61 enterprises of Nanjing such as Tuniu, NR Electric, Wiscom Technology, Asiainfo, and HopeRun were included, accounting for 52.6% of the entire province. The number of such enterprises increased by 20, over the previous session, and the preceding proportion increased by 11% over the previous year.

The shortlist of the first batch of 253 people under the talent plan of "Entrepreneurship in Nanjing" released by the Nanjing Municipal Office of Talent Service include 13 top technology experts, 55 innovative entrepreneurs, and 185 municipal high-level entrepreneurial talented people. Over one third of the 253 people are talented people in software, and key development fields in the software and information service industry such as cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality are involved.

According to the 2017 work report of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, Nanjing will continue to make all-out efforts to build itself into an international renowned software city and achieve revenue of RMB 540 billion from the software and information service industry with growth of about 15%. In addition, Nanjing has developed a number of investment vehicles for the software industry such as China (Nanjing) Software Valley, Nanjing Software Park, Jiangsu Software Park, Xuzhuang Software Park, Jiangdong Software Park, and Nanjing Chi-Lin Science and Technology Innovation Park. A software capital of the Orient is thriving.
