located within Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone and based on the Nanjing National Laboratory for Communication Technologies as well as a combination of many nationally and internationally known corporations including Ericsson, Flextronics, Motorola, ZTE and Inventec Appliances, it aims to be a wireless valley in Nanjing China. It seeks to build itself into a comprehensive experimental base for broadband wireless mobile communications which represents the world's top level by 2012. It will have up to then introduced 30 leading talents in communication technology from both China and abroad and built up 10 R&D centers in joint efforts with enterprises, and will locally commercialize an average of 6 major R&D findings annually. By 2015, the capacity of the communication industry in the Wireless Valley will amount to USD10 billion, bringing up that of Nanjing as a whole to above USD17 billion.
The Nanjing Communication Technology Laboratory covers an area of 450 mu in the Wireless Valley with a total floor area of 315,000 squre meters. The project will be implemented under a principle of one-off planning and staged construction. The Stage I project covers a floor area of 88,000 square meters with focus on six research centers including the Core Networking and Interconnecting Technology R&D Center, the Wireless Mobile Communication Network Research Center, the Communication RF and Antenna Research Center, the IC Design Research Center, the Communication-oriented Multimedia Information Processing Technology Research Center and the Communication Protocols and Applications Research Center.
